:::Beauty Review:::⊷Revlon Photoready Foundation⟢

24 Feb

I’m so excited to finally be reviewing a product (after a month long hiatus)! Luckily this isn’t a recent buy and its been a product that I’ve been able to test out through and through and actually tell you the pros and cons after using it for about 2.5 months now. :) WOW. Is all i’ve got to say, and i’m proud to announce that after weeks of searching for a good quality liquid foundation to use I finally found my HOLY GRAIL. ♥ I read and watched the reviews on this product and was so curious to try it out. Most reviews gave this foundation positive ratings, yet the only con that some people noted would be the “small(transparent) glitter finish” it gave off.

Quality: ▇▆▅▃

Light-weight, blendable, moderate coverage, and great quality & quantity are the words to describe my impression of this drugstore foundation. Revlon has been putting out some really reliable foundations from their colorstay collection (and i’ve used it for a while :) ). So its no suprise that when the photoready collection hit the shelves, I anticipated even BETTER quality from a drugstore foundation for an affordable price. The quality of the foundation isn’t heavy/cakey at all (unlike the colorstay liquid foundations). I don’t need to wear a lot of foundation; just enough to cover up some areas around my eyes, nose, and spot areas. I even opt to sometimes double it up as a concealer! But i think the best part about this foundation is that a pea-size amound goes A LOOOONG way. I can seriously pump out a small amount on my hand/brush and am able to cover all my areas w/o adding more!

Packaging:▇▆▅▃ My first ever “pump” liquid foundation ♥ I never want to go back to those bottles that you have to keep tapping for the foundation to come out like a bottle of ketchup. The bottle is 1Fl. oz (a great size considering how durable and long lasting it is), portable, glass, sleak high-end quality design, and comes in 6 shades.

Cost:▇▆▅ Because this is relatively new to drugstores the price is still in the $10-12 range. I think I paid about $12 for mine at my local drugstore/walmart. The price is actually not bad for its quality. I believe this foundation is compared to Make Up Forever’s HD foundation but at a much better affordable price.

Effectiveness:▇▆▅▃I would actually put this foundation in the tinted moisturizer category because of how light-weight it is however it does give quality coverage that most tinted moisturizers lack. Throughout the day I totally forget I am wearing ANY foundation at all! but its comforting to know that i’m “covered” >>>lol Living in a humid environment, I sometimes feel my tinted moisturizers/foundations sweating off my face throughout the day…not with Revlon’s photoready! It stays on for the majority of the day till you wash it off and does not sweat off. I purchased the foundation in NaturalBeige, and I heard that this foundation looked lighter when you put it on, so I hoped that I didn’t have to go one shade darker and mix it up; lucky for me the foundation blended perfectly into my skin (it showed up lighter when first applied; fused into skin once you blend out)and accentuated it even more/if not better! The only gripe  I should address is the “shimmer” that the foundation has in it. It was NOT noticeable when I put it on, nor was it even visible after I wore it throughout the day. But if you look at your skin up-close you can see some sparkle, but it is barely noticeable that it shouldn’t even matter. If you like more of a matte finish to your foundation then maybe the photoready foundation wouldn’t suit your preference, but if your into more of a dewey look I say get this!

Overall:▇▆▅▃

I’m happy to be using a foundation that i know will last me a long time. I usually like experimenting with various high-end—> low-end foundations but for now I’m so happy and content with this foundation that I can’t even imagine choosing to experiment with another. :)

Kawaii fashion ^_~

9 Jan

Living in hawaii, one of the most common everyday things i see while going to work at the mall, the beach, the park, the stores, are the influx of japanese/asian tourists that flock to our islands to enjoy a nice getaway from their home country. The cute japanese girls are always wearing something…well, cute! At times I get almost envious at how awesome their fashion sense is, and that a lot cute adorable clothes look so good on them.

Thanks to watching xteener, Yuna’s Closet is like the Forever21 version of asian trend fashion. A lot of this online clothing store’s aim is toward cute, fashionable, trendy, and at a very low price.

Giving life a second chance ✤

I’m a big fan of nature, recycling, and up cycling, but what neozoon has done just totally blows my mind! (in a good way) Neozoon is a female art collective that re-uses fur coats to create wall art installations! They cut the second hand furs into silhouettes of animals using a different animal and a different fur each
time. They’ve  also recently begun exploring molding furs into forms that resemble animals such as monkeys or dogs. these fur forms are then placed on trees and other obstacles in the urban environment, appearing to be playful zoo animals in the city.♥

Rack em’ Up!

18 Aug

I love wine. I’d probably consider myself a wino seeing as I’d hardly ever turn down a glass of wine.  That being said, i’d love to start my own wine collection someday, and have a cool wine rack along with it! Here are some cool wine racks I came upon:

Pinching my Pennies ♻

18 Aug

I recently fell victim to the worst feeling any 20-something adult could be subjected to- hardly any money in my bank account =( I like to consider myself a pretty independent woman. I look after myself and make sure that if I want to spend my money on nice things, I need to secure a job. Well, I have a job, just not enough work hours and little pay to make my bills. Its honestly my fault for digging myself in this hole. I’m a leo (FYI); we’re BIG spenders and love to live extravagantly! But I do have a “cheap” side to my spending. I just think I got caught up in trying to provide for myself without thinking wisely.

Now that I’m in this dilema, my parents and my boyfriend have offered to help support me in the meantime. I’ll be going back to school, and that means working even LESS. Here are a few things I’ll be cutting back on:

1. Running races

2.Eating out (lunch/dinner)

3.makeup (although i hardly buy anymore)

4.clothes

5.shoes

__________

I’m capping myself off. So far, it feels ok, however being more price concious takes will-power.

Today’s purchases~

*School books- my mom set aside money for my school expenses (thanks mom! ^_^)

*McDonalds lunch- its cheap, and i really wanted cheap coffee

*Price Busters- multiple subject notebook for school and cute metal lunchbox (so i’m forced to make use of it and start bringing food from home more often)

*Foodland- yogurt for breakfast

I’ve downloaded an app to help give me ideas on how to cut-back on spending. Its called Money Saver (Free)

I’m openly taking suggestions on how to improve spending/tips for saving money. If you or anyone you know has any ideas feel free to comment and share them with me :)

How rice saved my iPhone ^_^v

9 Aug

I love rice. Not just because it tastes good or the fact that i’m asian, its because rice is one of those utilitarian staples that has been used for centuries by countries around the world. I recently went trail running over the weekend, and it happened to be pouring rain in the mountains. I didn’t feel safe leaving my new iPhone in my car (people tend to break into cars at the trailhead), so I put it in the dryest compartment of my camelbak that I thought would be safe. After returning to my car after my run, I unpacked my iPhone. The condensation from my camelbak water bag (and the fact that it was raining) got my iPhone wet =(  As I tried seeing if it still worked ok, it seemed as though the phone froze up from the cold water which caused the circuits to malfunction. As I sat thinking of how i was going to dry the ‘inside’ of my phone, I tried drying it under a lamp. As I hoped for the best, I checked online to see if anyone else had remedies as how to fix a problem like mine (apparently Apple warranty doesn’t cover water damages). To my suprise someone posted that I could either leave my phone under a hearing aid dryer, stick it in a bunch of selica gels, OR place my phone in a bag of RICE. O.0 Rice? I thought. Hey it was worth a try. My friend gladly donated some of her jasmine brown rice for me to place my phone in. It took most of the afternoon, but to my suprise it looked like my iPhone was going to survive! :D Apparently rice has the ability to draw out the moisture from small areas!

So if you ever find your cell phone water logged, don’t despair! Try some rice and hopefully your tech device should be good as new! :)
